Commander Ellies started his career with the University of Pittsburgh Police Department after graduating from the Police Academy in 1997. Through the years, he has served as Patrol Officer, Shift Sergeant, Shift Lieutenant, Administrative Lieutenant, Commander of the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT), Commander of Operations, and now Commander of Pitt Police and Director of Security.Shawn has also served in the United States Army for 23 years where his leadership and skills helped his unit mobilized to the Middle East region. He earned a doctorate degree from the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh (Administration & Policy Studies), master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Pittsburgh’s GSPIA program, and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Management from Duquesne University.
Ryan has been in the security industry for over eight years. She started as an operator and transitioned into a business development role. Currently she serves on the Board for ASIS Pittsburgh, is a Liaison Officer for WPA Fusion and Hazard Center, and a member of TRCPA. She spent ten years prior managing compliance in Investment Banking which serves as an asset to Western Pennsylvania's Chapter of ASIS.
LaVon has led an impressive career in Loss Prevention with over 20 years of experience in the retail industry. LaVon is a recognized leader in his field who has received many honors and awards for outstanding service. LaVon currently serves as Regional Loss Prevention Manager at AutoZone. Through his commitment to this role, LaVon has helped his Company improve Safety and Security standards, build a culture of Security awareness and accomplish shrink and loss control goals.LaVon is an active member of ASIS, Pittsburgh Technical College Advisory Board and Pittsburgh ORCA. LaVon enjoys spending time with his family and is entrenched within his community by serving as a youth mentor, coach and PIAA High School basketball official.
David has been involved with ASIS Pittsburgh since 1985 holding many leadership roles within the Chapter. A native Pittsburgher, he has held his Certified Protection Professional (CPP®) through ASIS International since 2010. He has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, corporate security, executive protection, and health care, medical marijuana and psychiatric security administration. His drive for successful security programming, making a true impact to organizational safety and security, and directing successful teams contributes to the insight he provides through an objective, yet innovative mind set. David works to develop strategies and cost saving initiatives for a strong ROI while creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment. He is a great custodian and an asset as Treasurer of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of ASIS
